Seeing that we have recently introduced a new category entitled “Buying and Selling” here at DriverSense, I thought it would be appropriate to detail how much money it would take to buy some of the world’s most expensive cars. Keep in mind that a vast majority of these autos are in limited supply, so chances are that you’ll never see one in any local auto shows. That is unless you happen to have an extremely wealthy neighbour who likes super cars. I’m sure that there aren’t many of us out there that can actually afford one of these super cars (it would be nice though), but in case you win the lotto or come into a lot of money in the future, this list is a good starting point in what to look for.

Starting off the list are the “bargain basement” super cars that will run you at least $400,000. Coming in at number ten and by far the cheapest car on the list is Porsche Carrera GT at $440,000 USD. Don’t let the price fool you though, as this small, yet fun car can hit a top speed of 205 mph and can hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

Next at number nine is the $495,000 USD Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren Roadster. This lustrous super car sports the title of the world’s fastest car with an automatic transmission, as it is capable of 206 mph and duly capable of making it to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.

The “paltry” half a million dollar club is home to two super cars. Coming in at number eight on the list is the Swedish produced Koenigsegg CCX at $545,568 USD. This sleek looking super car can hit 245 mph, which makes it the fourth fastest car in the world. Rumour has it that Koenigsegg is attempting to work a few things out and make the CCX the world’s fastest car.

Next, at number seven is the $555,000 USD Saleen S7 Twin Turbo. The world’s third fastest car can hit a top of speed of 248 mph and accelerates to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

In the “affordable” $600,000 club, we have three super cars that would give anyone goosebumps if they ever had the chance to get behind the wheel. Coming in at number six on the list is the SSC Ultimate Aero with a price tag of $654,000 USD. Believe it or not, this is actually a bargain, as the Ultimate Aero is the world’s fastest street legal auto. It has a top end speed of 257 mph+ and has the ability to hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds.

Coming in at number five is the Pagani Zonda C12 F at $667,321 USD. Pagani, a small Italian company, states that it’s car is capable of making it to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and that it has a top speed of 215 mph.
Rounding out the $600K club is the $670,000 USD Ferrari Enzo. The 400 Enzo’s on the road can hit 217 mph and can hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

As we approach the vaunted million dollar club, there is only one super car that is part of the $900,000 club. The McLaren F1 is the oldest car on the list, as it was built in 1994, but it still commands a hefty $970,000 USD. Even though it is a 1994, it can make it to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and can hit 240 mph on a wide open racetrack. For many years this super car was the world’s fastest, but has been supplanted by newer, more technologically advanced autos.

Oddly enough, there are only two autos that are in the million dollar club. You would figure that in today’s world most of these super cars would easily cost a million dollars, but it appears that the rest of the autos on the list are at bargain prices. Coming in at number two on the list with an asking price of $1.6 million USD is the Lamborghini Reventón. This beast of a car can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and has a reported top speed of 211 mph. Sadly, only twenty of these cars were made, so chances are that we’ll never see one in person, much less in action.

Finally, after all of the suspense, we have made it to the world’s most expensive car. Coming in at number one on the list is the Bugatti Veyron at $1.7 million USD. Also touted as the fastest car in the world (even though it isn’t official), the Veyron can zoom to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds (faster than the naturally powered cheetah) and is rumoured to have a top speed of 253 mph or more.

Question: How impressive are the world's most expensive cars?
