Summer is here and there is no better feeling than driving around on a hot and sunny day in a car with the top down and the wind blowing through your hair. With dealerships offering a wide range of incentives and discounts these days, now is a great time to buy a convertible if you have always had your eye on one. A popular convertible, Mazda’s MX-5 roadster features a simple and sleek front fascia. The easy-to-use soft top roof tucks away into a Z-fold and a power retractable hardtop is an option. The style bars behind the seat headrests on this two-seater add to its sporty look, as do the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob. The MX-5 comes in a five-speed manual transmission with the option to upgrade to a short-throw six-speed manual transmission. Geared toward enthusiasts, the car has a 50:50 weight distribution, sport-tuned suspension and alloy wheels with performance tires.

2009 MINI Cooper Convertible
|
The MINI Cooper Convertible is a fun take on the little compact car. Transmission is a six-speed manual with optional six-speed automatic and a top speed of 198 km per hour. It comfortably fits four adults and has been improved with adjustable headrests for ultimate comfort. The rear seats fold down if you need the trunk space and when the soft top is on, the tailgate folds out for easy loading. The automatic soft top is available in a choice of three different colours and can change from open to closed in 15 seconds. The soft top can also be pulled back to act as an integrated sunroof. The shape of the MINI’s rounded headlights is mimicked in the interior, from the elliptical door rings to the circular gauges on the instrument panel.

The Chrysler Sebring Convertible features a 2.4 litre, four-speed automatic transmission and is marketed as a mid-size convertible. A front cup holder is operated with three options – off, heat, and cool – to keep your beverage hot or cold. The seats are made with an integrated stain repellent fabric, making spill cleanup a breeze. A powered tonneau cover automatically moves when the soft or hard top is being stowed, giving the rear a clean and streamlined look. Other features include powered heated side mirrors and trunk space spacious enough to carry a bag of golf clubs.

2009 smart fortwo passion cabriolet
|
If you use this pint-sized vehicle just for the summer, why not get a convertible? The polyacrylic fabric soft top can be opened or closed in motion, or can be operated when standing still with the remote button on your key fob. If you feel like going for the full convertible experience, you can remove the roof bars and store them in the special compartment in the tailgate. Even if you do plan on driving it in the winter, smart makes it easier with a new scratch-resistant, heated rear window in safety glass. It also comes standard with heated seats, 15-inch nine-spoke alloy wheels with all-season tires, air conditioning with dust and pollen filter, powered heated side mirrors and six-disc CD changer. The luggage compartment cover can be pulled over to cover your trunk contents and will easily retract for larger items, and the open storage compartment on the passenger side has been replaced with a lockable glove compartment. The three-spoke leather steering wheel adds a touch of luxury, as does the leather-wrapped gear knob.
