I would assume this applies to people who went out of their way to choose a certain color. If you're going to psycho-analyze people on the road, and assess their date potential (isn't that what the article is about?) you might get a more accurate reading by looking at the type/style of car they drive to pinpoint lifestyle or personality. Visibility wouldn't even be such a grave issue - although I agree about more visible colors vs. darker less visible ones- if people would get off their DVD players, cellphones, put down the drink and the food, and pay attention to the road. And if you have no business being on the road in the first place, car color is not going to improve your driving skills. Staying at home is the answer.

If you are buying used - features and mileage are likely more important than colour. Looking for the most visible colour on the road? - I was told by a dealership that white is most visible, followed by red. I used to own a dark blue truck - definitely the new red one seems to get noticed more on the road. I drive red for the safety factor!

This is nice fun thing, but some red car owner are completely incompetent. They are the worst you can find.

Mine's tan -- not on your list, along with other neutrals like taupe, beige, brown, champagne, etc. -- and I like it because it shows dirt and dust the least of any color, so I don't have to bother washing it as often. Black is actually worse than white about having to be cleaned constantly.

although colour says alot, I didn't get to pick mine...but I would paint it black w/chrome accessories if I had the cash! Cheers

Agree with Douglas, my current and last car colour - slate gray - and I see lots of others

White and black cars show rain residue and dirt more obviously; on white paint it looks brown and on black/red paint it looks grey-white. (And it doesn't take a lot of rain either). Who wants their car to look scruffy?

What about tan,beige and gray?

I have a blue car and this is actually right on. When I got the car, I specifically told the dealer I would take any colour other than black, white, or silver (I just didn't want to go with a common, generic colour)

My next door neighbour owns a yellow car with racing stripes and is the biggest introvert I've barely met

Yellow actually blends with the road a lot better than red or green or other colours.. My guess yellow has the fewest accidents because it's a butt ugly colour for a car, and very few people own one.

I don't own a car. The only good car is one somebody else is paying for. But my last one was yellow because it is the most visible and has the fewest accidents.

I had a red car but people still cut me off like i didn't exist, just like in my black car now. i drive like a bat out of hell. my car i'm getting next month is green. so i guess i'm just all over the map ;)

Some individuals, including myself, chose silver but it has nothing to do with personality. For many, it has everything to do with which car is safer or less likely to be involved in an accident. Apparently, statistically speaking, silver and white are the safest colors and dark colors, particularly black are less safe, probably because of visibility issues.

I bought my truck used, so colour wasn't an important issue. I bought the best vehicle that suited my needs and budget. As far a people owning a lot of silver cars, take a look at what companies offer? It seems they're ALL silver!

I got Blue because Red wasn't available right away.

The new red Versa was cheaper than the new blue Versa, colour didn't matter to us - $ did.

So my dad drives a white van and he is the chaos on wheels. I drive a blue one and I am practical above all so one out of 2 is ok.

I drive a yellow vehicle because it is easily seen on the road. I'm so tired of the near misses with people who aren't paying attention, or say "I'm sorry I didn't see you, your car blended in to the surroundings".

i would say thats right and where it is not right is probably where someone accidently chose a color there not, like those rusty old white cars still on the street, that person is probably thinking to themselves, i hate this color LOL

2 out of 3 were right...my dad drives a white truck and he is NOT neat or organized lol
