The All New Toyota Venza

|
While production of new car models at GM, Chrysler and Ford has virtually ground to a halt in the last year and a half, Toyota seems to be holding on, going so far as to manufacture the brand new Venza. But the decision to produce the car (or crossover utility vehicle) was made with careful consideration and a plan of attack known as advertisement overload. Toyota, however, obviously had the confidence to manufacture the Venza and has clearly done their homework in terms of what their target group needed. The Venza is said to fill a void left by the Highlander, which has run its course and reached its peak in sales. The car is perfect for young families who like the look and feel of an SUV or minivan, but are still want to save on gas by driving a smaller vehicle. It is equally ideal for baby boomers that prefer sedans but like the idea of sitting higher to better view the roads.
Rrroll Up The Rim To Win
This year, as part of Tim Horton’s yearly promotional campaign, the Venza is one of the top prizes. There are 35 cars to be won during this contest season, which began on February 23rd and closes once all contest cups have been distributed, up to May 1st, 2009. Promoting the Venza through the Tim Horton’s contest is a great way for the new car to get publicity as there are Roll Up The Rim To Win commercials running consistently throughout the day on multiple channels.
Features
It cannot be all about promotion. There has to be some credibility to both Tim Horton’s and Toyota’s reputations. Well the Venza does not disappoint. It boasts an impressive seven air bags, including one for your knees, and seats that are designed to absorb a portion of the impact that causes whiplash from rear-end collisions. Another great feature is detection high beams that automatically switch off when an approaching vehicle is detected and then switch back on once that vehicle passes. Toyota automakers also claim that the Venza is aerodynamic, reducing gas consumption simply due to its design. They say that the slanted windshield helps to reduce wind resistance, more so than SUVs that have windshields that are only slightly slanted. Likewise, the rounded design of the front of the car also reduces wind resistance while the rear spoiler (standard on all Venza models) blocks turbulent air from blowing around the back of the car. All of these features allow wind to glide up and over the car with minimal resistance, optimizing gas consumption.
Sales
According to the National Post’s financial section in a January 2009 article, Toyota had taken over the number two spot in Canada’s automotive sector. It is the first time that an international automaker has beaten a domestic automaker for second place (Ford and Chrysler usually battle for second place following GM).
That is not to say that Toyota doesn’t anticipate being hurt by the current North American economic standing. The recession is hurting many businesses; most of all the auto industry, and Toyota anticipates a drop in sales. However, the popularity of the new Venza is expected to help a great deal. As previously mentioned, the vehicle was designed with young couples and baby boomers in mind and will only be available in North America.
Go For A Test Drive
In the market for a new car? Toyota’s website does a good job of outlining key features that are important to their target groups and, like most auto websites, you can build and price your own Venza from the ground up, choosing whatever characteristics and packages you feel are important. If you still are not able to make up your mind, test drive a Venza. They have many features, whether your interests are safety, fuel economy, sleek design or cool gadgets. If you do buy the Venza, you can rest assured knowing that your car was built by a reputable company that is doing well compared to other automakers at this time. This crossover vehicle is the perfect mix of sedan and SUV. You will be sitting high in your seat and therefore better able to see the road, but you’ll use minimal fuel, as though you are in a car. With all of the hype surrounding the Venza, it is sure to not disappoint and hopefully Toyota’s projected sales will exceed expectations.
